First if all, it was great seeing all who attended the 40th blowout........major kudos to all that worked on it. One suggestion from a guy who's getting older......could you increase the size of the font on the name tags?? That said, here is my top ten list of things overheard at the reunion....with no apologies to David Letterman.......drum roll, please.....

Just a quick note to perhaps begin a series of "good to see yas". I enjoyed getting to see so many folks and lament having not had (or taken) more opportunity for more time with nearly everyone. Just a few thoughts-First, thanks to Bree.... our memories will be chronicled thanks much to you (and whoever got that camera for you and cajoled you into serving as the historian). Second to the Committee, particularly the obvious firestarter Toni. Has Doug Williamson not well-polished his "MC" act? Good job, Doug. How about interesting occupations... no, not THAT one, I was thinking Sandy Saxon's and the trains of Santa Fe....... It was good to see Pat Murphy and Tommy Tutt, holders of the candle of western traditions. Fun to learn that some of us have gone on to flourish in other worlds like Broadway and Africa.... How did we get so many lawyers out of the group? Brook Bennett is an obvious choice, as was Diane G, but.... I wonder if we have a disproportionate share of somalier's? Who would have thought we'd have so many numbers people? What DID Richard Ellis help make for the military? Should Donna Dorsett have given us a bicycling demonstration? More musing later?

Oh, my gosh, Andy! It was fun, wasn't it!!! Thanks for all your help and smiles! It was just a fabulous weekend and I hope all had as good a time as Larry and I did. Now what to do w/ my time!!!

Just got back home - and up from a much-needed nap. You guys wore me plum out! I really had a wonderful time getting to visit with so many of you, and regrets at those with whom I never got around to having a conversation. thanks again to all who worked so hard and long to pull off a great time.

Hey everyone, I am having a lot of fun reading and looking at the postings of former classmates! I love the pics too. So funny, what different folks remember from high school. Can't believe it has been 40 years, I think someone must have added a few years to that number myself!! Ha!
Looking forward to seeing those that will attend in June. I have been to some of the 60's reunions they have had in the DFW area and it has been fun to see everyone. We all look just the same, don't we??!! Yeah, right!

This is for Andy , I read your writings and I must say, my friend, you are a very rich man , I truley wish I could have the memories that you have and the talent to put them in the format you have created.

All of your thoughts touched my wife and I as we read through them , some of the people I did not know but wish I did as I look back to that time.

As we all are in our late 50's now and our lives have changed from the teenagers we were to real,caring people who would rather help someone and be rewarded as you have.

Andy, I do not remember you, however I will be the first to shake you hand and tell you how I enjoyed your fine work.

Like Maureen, I've had so much fun looking at your pictures, reading your stories and chatting with a few of you. For many of us, not only do our relationships reach back to 1969, but to kindergarten and first grade... almost like an extended family that's been separated by the distance of years and limitations of each day's demands. It's very nice to see you again.

Carpe diem...here's to meeting new friends, if somehow we've missed each other along the way.

I remember Ross Todd and I "talked" some of the freshmen drummers into assisting in the "parade" after the pep rally that preceded (and possibly precipitated?) the mass hysteria !! Sometimes, things got a little out of hand..... Otherwise, I'm sure we've all lead perfect lives...

Stealing Gas off a farmer outside of town and realising half way back to town it was really Diesel. THe farmer probably watched us and laughed his ass off. Running my sister on a wild Goose chase as she tried to get me to come back home while the parents were out of town and I said Im going out. Sitting on the sidelines in the football team WAA. Getting 10 of the best from Mr Barnefiend in Grade 9 at Madison. Man that hurt he had a cricket back sawed flat and had holes in it. Putting a smoke bomb in Bill Saxons car on New Years eve and getting caught. Out of all the cars we chose it was the one that had taken my dad out to dinner too. Throwing my guts up after consuming a bottle of Southern Comfort
Still can't drink it today. BUt Wild TUrkey is fine.
Getting caught Toilet papering Brad Stephens house and having to clean it up at 3 in the morning. Shooting arrows at the Eagle at Abilene High School. Turning on the fire hydrants all around Abilene.
All you guys were so good somebody had to be bad and a few of us were. Oh well alls well that ends well.

SUCH THOUGHT. THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE. AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL. "YES. YES, I DID.
I'M A MUSTANG," HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE. " WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?" I ASKED. HE ANSWERED, "IN 1975. WHY DO YOU ASK?"

Hey Andy, My friend it so good to see that talent is still there after all these years. The last time I remember seeing you was in Denton when Isreal and I came to see you. I had wonder if you had made it to the great white way or what. Well I'm now honoring the wild ways and have hair half way down my back. Everybody at work is asking why the long hair now and my answer is because I can. I never made to the military but I'm a veteran of the war in America. 40 years in the operating room of two different trauma hospitals, I have seen more than my fair share of death and distruction for anybody in one lifetime. The only saving grace is I don't get shot at very often. All I can say is that I picked it and wasn't drafted. Can you imagine me ass deep in blood and guts? So here's to those of us who are still around who can be wild. Grant

Ted, thanks for the info about Coach Gobbs. I remember him well.

Coach Gibbs taught some health or science class in the 9th grade at Madison, can't recall just what. Let's see, Marcie Dews I think sat beside me, and another girl that lived across the alley from me on Ivanhoe. That was the year that many of us set alarm clocks in our lockers, causing much confiscation and use of bolt cutters. Another story.

Coach Gibbs wouldn't let me slide. I hated it at the time. I could always ace his tests, and was fine in classroom participation. But I refused consistently to do the homework he assigned, and he would not overlook that fact in my grades. He gave me my worst report card in my 3 years in Madison.

And he tried to turn me around, to make me see that my disdain for homework hurt no one but me. He didn't entirely succeed, but he did try - personally, man to young man.

He is the only Madison teacher I went back to visit after Cooper graduation.

I'm sorry to hear he is gone. He blessed us all.
