As a mother, my greatest accomplishment has been raising two daughters, who are bright, independent and a joy. This joy was multiplied a hundred fold when my only grandchild was born in 2000. Jessica is now 9 years old and spends the summers with us. She is a mini-me, and we have a great time together.
After graduating, I've done a number of interesting jobs - tried my hand at real estate, sold oilfield drill pipe (one of only 3 women in that field at the time), worked temporary jobs for a while and ended up at First Financial Bank for a short time where I met my husband. He said I had to get a "real" job, so my career for the last 20+ years has been in the non-profit arena. I worked at the Abilene Chamber of Commerce for 7 years. Then I was hired as Director of Fundraising at the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. It took me five years to burn out at that position. I've been the Executive Director at the Food Bank of West Central Texas for the last 9 years, and it is one of the most fulfilling jobs I've experienced. Can't imagine doing anything else.
