Mike Meyers

Mike Meyers passed away at a hospital in suburban Houston on June 26, 1988. He had a sudden heart problem on a late Saturday afternoon which necessitated emergency surgery, which was unsuccessful.

Mike and his wife had I think two children. He was an Architecture graduate of Texas A&M and had a successful practice in Houston. Here in Abilene his firm designed the shopping center that is on South 27th known as the Plaza at Park Central. He is survived by his mother, Bitsy (Mrs. Frank) Meyers of Abilene, his sister Merlaine and brothers Chip, Rick (tennis professional at Abilene Country Club), and twins Scott and David.

Mike's father Frank was a WWII veteran who established Elmwood Gardens cemetery in Abilene. Mr. Meyers died about three years ago (2006). Mike's mom told me that Mike's wife eventually changed the name of their children and refused any contact with the grandparents.

Mike was one of the youngest members of the Class of 1969, born on November 21, 1951. He is remembered fondly by many. If anyone would like to contribute more complete details, please email me or post a comment below.
