William Patrick "Pat" Murphey, 61, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander, Abilene, with a reception to follow. Services will be directed by Community Funeral Home, 1443 North 2nd Street, Abilene.
Pat was born June 26, 1951 to Bill and Mary Murphey in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1969 and afterward from Tarleton State College in Stephenville, Texas. Pat worked in the family business in Abilene for many years and enjoyed working on the family ranch all of his life. He loved hunting, fishing, and rodeoing, especially showing horses with his nieces. In more recent years, Pat managed the Family Dollar Store on Barrow Street in Abilene. He had a great love for life and lived it to the fullest. Pat had many wonderful friends and family who loved him.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Mary Murphey; sister, Melynda Jackson; nieces, Marilyn Crowe and husband Jody Crowe, and Ashley Jackson; great-niece, Riley Crowe; step-son, Joe Grist; and grandsons, Joe Robert, Brandon, and Matthew.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Northern Oaks Living and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care given their loved one.
