Survived By: Randy is survived by his wife, Paula, and his two sons and daughter-in-law Adam, Brent, and Jordan. Also he is survived by his parents, Jim and Margie Eaton, of Abilene; his mother-in-law, Mildred Chaney, of Abilene; brother-in-law, Larry Chaney and wife, Casey, from Austin. Randy had three brothers and one sister. They are Chuck Eaton and wife, Amy, from Lubbock; Dr. Kent Eaton and wife, Vickie, from McPherson, KS; Lee Eaton and wife, Kay, from Rowlett; and Shara Webster from Allen.

Randall Brent (Randy) Eaton, 58, went to be with his Lord at a local hospital, Thursday, September 3, 2009, after a gallant fight with cancer. Randy was born in Paris, Texas and moved to Abilene as an infant. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, September 7, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. There will be a visitation at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butterrnut on Sunday, 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. He left this world surrounded with family, friends, and the clergy. As long as Randy had a breath, he wanted to tell everyone how much he loved his family and his church. Serving others was among the most important thing in his life. He was an active member of Pioneer Baptist Church. Randy met his wife, Paula, while they were both students at Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater. The couple married in Sweetwater, September 30, 1978. He worked as a draftsman in Sweetwater until they moved to Abilene in 1980. He began working for the Texas Department of Transportation in its engineering and design department in 1987. His mark is left on most of the highways in the Abilene area. Mr. Eaton graduated from McMurry University in 1990 and received a masters degree from Hardin Simmons University in 2007. Randy was active in life-long sports. He competed in many marathons. He participated in three triathlons. He participated in bike races. He played in tennis tournaments. He was a referee in many tournaments. Randy had a passion for volunteering. He helped in the Children's Miralce Network, trained a pet therapy dog, was on a clean-up crew after three major hurricanes on the Gulf Coast, participated in a church building project in New Orleans, and was a Big Brother for seven years. After being stricken with cancer, he had as a goal to be a big part of three coming events. Randy was able to see his son, Brent Eaton, receive his white jacket in medical school and to see Brent get married in June to Jordan Lott. Randy was also able to see his son, Ensign Adam Eaton, graduate from Officer's Preparatory School. Randy found joy participating in these events. I can remember hanging with Randy through out our school years. Seems like I met him at Crockett Elem. in the fourth grade. I also remember him as a fellow 'drummer' in the school band. I think Mr. Tate though we were little too rowdy, but he let us stay. Randy and I terrorized the neighborhood in our younger years, until we discovered girls and scaled back. I remember him as a good friend, and even though we lost touch during the years, I still consider him my first 'best friend'.
