Still creating a checkered past. I don't live at the edge of the earth in Cortez CO, but you can see it from here. I think that the edge is over by Blanding UT. I own a house in a small town in the backwaters of the nation. I should have been voted "Most likely to become a hippy". Aging hippie. Klutzy star-child earth-gypsy. I've survived!

After retiring on disability in 2005, I co-authored a book with Vila Schwindt and Dale Davidson, "Images of America: Cortez", Arcadia Press 2012. I am working on a second more technical history of Cortez CO. Also writing historical fiction.

I remember the Latin Club going to see "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" and then playing Red Rover in the Cooper parking lot behind the Band Room.

I remember the Honor's Biology class sparking Wintogreen Lifesavers in the closet. Then Mr. Harlan discussing the ADP/ATP energy transfers. Our learning cell biology (cutting edge) rather than the class/phylum system (which was boring). I remember our many trips to the park to look for hydra and spirogyra.

Bless her heart, Mrs. Freeman was in early stage dementia and we could distract her so easily.

Who remembers our senior stunts? We had so many. Every time that we would have one, the administration would ask if that were our senior stunt? We'd answer, "No." And the Senior Stunts rolled on.
1.) There was the Volkswagon put on the auditorium stage.
2.) There were the alarm clocks padlocked in the student lockers est to go off at the same time. Of course the alarm clocks wet off all day. The administration rushed around the halls with bolt cutters trying to stop the racker.
3.) Someone chained the teachers in the library while they were having a faculty meeting. The teachers had to call for someone to let them out with a bolt cutter.
4.) There were the chickens in the academic building. Our class had to pay the janitor to clean up the mess.
5.) There as the Senior walk out that Mr. Anthony described as "Mass Hysteria". Many of the seniors walked out of class. (Kids had figured out that enough of us walked out the administration could not penalize us.) The seniors walked over to Abilene High, held hands before the building, and cried out "Red Rover, Red Rover. Let Abilene High Come over!"
