I went on to Draughon's Business College. While I was there, I also did substitute teaching at night for the Accounting class. I started college in Dallas, but have never finished - the attorney that I worked for in Dallas wanted me to get my law degree and work with him. It's hard enough being a legal assistant and doing just about the same thing the attorney does, but I did not want the extra pressure and not enough time to be with my daughter.

My first big break came when I moved to Chicago in 1972 and went to work for the law firm of Hopkins, Sutter; worked there until about midway through my pregnancy with Amy and moved back to Abilene with my husband, Greg. Went to work at Tippett Engineering and was there until I moved to Dallas to help out with my grandmother who at the time had been moved to a nursing home and Amy was 3 years old.

I have been with the firm of Andrews Kurth for 15 years (but on the books it is 30 years - I was a lateral hire with two attorneys; we left Locke Purnell [now Locke Lord]) in 1994. I work in commercial real estate lending, leasing and sales. Wish that I had a recent picture to upload, but all of my things are in storage because I have my home on the market for sale (I know a bad time) so that I can move to the Burleson area.

It's the end of Feb. 2010, am watching "Eight Below" at midnight. Anyway, update - I was hit by a car in the Town East Mall parking lot (walking to my car) the week before Christmas by a kid with no insurance and texting on his cell phone and have been off of work since then. Am not allowed to walk or drive because of the damage done to my right knee, until released by the ortho doctor - hopefully on March 24. It is really boring sitting around and having to have others do things for me, which is pretty hard when everyone works.

In January 2015, the attorney that I worked with did a lateral move with some other attorneys and I moved with him to Alston & Bird.

I'm retired as of 1/31/2017. YEA!!! In November 2019 I moved to Dublin, TX.
